Nov 15th

We are going to have a baby by Nov 15th. I am planning on going in on Monday Nov 15th at 8:30am to get induced. We have decided to induce to help work around Brock's work schedule. Brock should be able to be home from work until early Dec, that will give us about 2 weeks to adjust before he goes back to work. I am excited but it just seams like it went by really fast. I have Monday and Tue off work next week. Monday I am having a girls day with my mom and sister. We are going to get our nails done, lunch and some shopping. Tues we are going to have a fun day with Sierra. We are planning on taking her to Amazing Pizza Machine. We want to introduce her to bowling. They have a smaller version of the game that would be more fit for her age.

Big Girl Bed!

We finally got the office room cleaned up and started setting up Sierra new room. We had bought a twin size bed for her. Sunday night was the first night we had it all set up. That day Sierra did not take a nap so she was very tired and ended up falling asleep on my lap. Brock ended up just carrying Sierra and put her in the new bed asleep. She stayed in the bed all night. Monday night after her bath Sierra ran to her new room and climbed right into bed. I was so excited that she wanted to sleep in her new room. I was so nervous she would not transition well into a new room and new bed, but she loves it. Now we just have to finish the room. Right now we just have the bed and dresser in there.
My Mom found a very cute flower bedding for her. I am going to do a flower and butterfly theme room for her. I had a friend make me a really cute growth chart that started the theme of the room. I need to figure out what color to paint the room. I asked Sierra what color and she said yellow.
Target has some wall stickers of flowers and butterflies that I thought would look nice on the the wall. I have put a link at the bottom to the bedding that I have bought for Sierra.

It is going to be a.....

We found out on July 13th that we are going have a girl!!! We are super excited about it. Brock made sure to ask the u/s tech to check twice to make sure it was not a boy. It was only for that split second that brock questioned the tech but he is really excited to have another girl in the house. We are in the slow process of getting the other room ready for the baby. I have been really busy with Brock's sister getting married this weekend and being the VP of my work's Golf league. Once the golf league is over I will put 100% effort on getting the other room together. We have already bought a twin bed for Sierra and have it set up. She knows that it is her "new big bed". We have not started the process of getting her out of her crib. We are still in debate if we will move Sierra into the other room or make the new room the nursery. It would be alot less work if we move Sierra. I have been looking for bedding for Sierra, I think I am going to have a flower and butterfly theme room for Sierra.
Last week my mom, sister and I went to garage sales in Waverly. It was so hot that day and we even started at 9am, but it did not matter. I found some really great deals. My best find was a baby Bjorn baby carrier that I can wear. I looked on walmart.com and they are $125, I bought my for $30!! I also got some clother for both Sierra and the new baby. I was also able to find bed frame for Sierra's twin bed for $5. I need to make more of an effort to make it to garage sales, you can just find so many good deals that way.

20 week dr appt.

I had my 20 week appt yesterday. Everything is going great. We got to hear the heartbeat again. Last month the baby's heartbeat was 152, this month it is 143. Per the Myths I told Brock with the low rate it could be a boy. Brock is holding that to be true. We made out appt for the big ultrasound for July 13th. We are going to find out the sex of the baby at that time.
I am starting to get my baby bump, I am starting to look more pregnant then just fat. I have not had any sickness for the last month and have had a lot more engergy now. In the last couople of weeks I have started to feel the baby move, Brock has not yet got to feel the baby yet but that will still be a few more weeks until he can do that.

Swim lessons update

Last night was the last night of the first session of swim lessons. There was a total of 5 lessons and on the 4th lesson Sierra was floating on her back by herself. I am so proud of Sierra on what she has learned in the 5 lessons. It is really fun to watch her in the pool. The teacher tells her to do something and she does it right away. Sierra was doing such a good job following direction. We usually get to the lesson early and Sierra just sits in the chair and waits. As soon as the other child gets out of the pool, Sierra gets up and walk right over to the teacher and is really to get in. It is so funny! We are going to sign up for the next session that start early July. Since Sierra is doing good I want to keep her in the lesson so she does not forget anything. Next weekend we are going to the lake, I hope the lessons help with her feeling comfortable in the lake water.

In Sierra's word, "I like fish"... aka I swim like a fish.

swimming lessons

Sierra just started swimming lessons last Thurs. She had taken lessons through YMCA a year ago, and did okay with them. Those were group lessons and I had to get in the water with her. I don't really think she learned much in those lessons. So this year I try something different. There is a lady that works at State Farm that teaches private lessons at a local hotel. It is just Sierra and the teacher in the pool for 15 mins. I had mixed thought about me not being in the pool, I was glad that I did not have to get in, but was not sure how Sierra would do without me or dad in the pool with her. We got to the lesson early so she got to see another boy take lessons, she was so excited on the way there to go swimming and when we got there she was excited about the water. When it was her turn surprising she went right to the teacher and got in the water with her. Right when Sierra's lesson started about 8 other kids showed up to swim also. Since this is at the hotel the pool is still open to the hotel guest. Since the other kids were in the pool Sierra was a little more intimidated. Sierra did cry for most of the lesson but she still rested her head on the teachers shoulder to float on her back. The teacher said she did good and they all cry on the first one but Sierra did not fight her. After the lesson I asked Sierra if she had fun, she said yes and when asked if she wants to swim again she was excited. I just hope she is still excited for her next lesson on Tue. I think sierra learn more in this 15 min lesson crying then she did the 5 lessons we took through the Y.

potty training signs?

Last Sat when I put Sierra to bed at 9pm she was not wanting to go to sleep so for the next 45mins I could hear her in there reading and talking. It got quite around 10pm so Brock went in there to get the book out of the crib. When he got in there, he saw all the books spread around the crib, her pillow in the middle with her head inside the edge of the case. Sierra then had her butt sticking up in the air with no pants and no diaper, yes no diaper. Brock had to get me right away to show me this funny sight. Sierra ended up waking up and Brock put on a new diaper and put her back to bed. The next day I heard Sierra wake up at 7:15am but could hear her playing in the crib so I just stay in bed for another 20 mins or so. When Brock went in there she was sitting up with no diaper on again. When Brock asked why she took off the diaper she said "I poopy", which she was not. Brock put her on the potty chair right away, but nothing happen. Tue morning Sierra woke up on her own around 7am when I got in there about 5 mins later she was sitting in the corner of her crib with the pillow over her lap, when I removed the pillow saw again she taken off her diaper, she said again "I poopy". We have not had problems with it since then. After taking to my friends I guess this is one of the signs of her getting ready for potty training. I guess she does not like how it feels to have a full wet diaper.

My Dr appt

I went to the Dr today, I am 12 weeks on Friday. It was a little early so I could not hear the heartbeat, but in a month I should be able to hear it. The nurse said she got a reading of 150 beats, so that is good. Everything is going great, the only thing is the Dr. said my Vitamin D level was low, so I have to take some D.

My morning sickness has gotten a better. I did not get sick today!!!! I hope the sickness is gone..for good! I think I have the start of a little bump, I hope pretty soon I can blame my tummy on baby only.

Sierra is 2!!!

I can't believe Sierra is already two. I think this last year has gone by so fast. Sierra had a great birthday party, she loved opening all her gifts. She had to get off the paper and tape off each gift before she could go to the next one. On Sierra b-day she did not have as much luck, she ended up getting bit by one of her classmates, I guess they did not like all the attention she was getting for her birthday.
Monday we went to the Dr. for her 2 year check up.. she only weights 25 lbs which puts her in the 25% on the charts and was 24in long which is about 50%. The Dr said he is fine with her weight, she is just active. The great part of the appt was she did not have to have any shots!!!!

Sierra is learning so many words, everyday she says something that just surprises me. She is really good at repeating words and sentences.

I am having morning sickness again just like I did with Sierra. I hope it will end at 12 weeks like it did with Sierra. We are going to find out the sex of the baby, I am thinking that will be in July/Aug. I will keep everyone posted on the progress. We are very excited!!!

Happy Easter

What a beautiful day we had for Easter. The day started out great with getting sierra in her Easter dress(with a little help from sweet-tarts) and her new white shoes. Getting the shoes on was a big deal because for the last month the only shoes she will wear are her tennis shoes. I have bought her new one but she refuses to put them on or when I get one on she would throw a fit and start crying. I think the candy was the key factor on getting the shoes on. It was not until we were in the car she figured out she had new shoes on. She started say "shoes, don't want, shoes don't want" but luckily still kept them on.

Sierra was really good through out the whole church service. At the end of Church anyone who wants can go up with the choir to see sing the last song of the service. My dad ended up going up so we pointed out to Sierra that "papa" was up there. Right before they started to sing the whole church was quite and Sierra yells out from the back of the church "Papa!!" Everyone around started laughing, I think everyone in the church heard but Papa.

After we went to church we headed up to Columbus, NE to my Mom's cousin house for lunch. We had a great lunch with family. After lunch the guys went out and hid 100 eggs that were filled by my Great Aunt and Uncle. Sierra did a great job finding the eggs, she ended up with 26 eggs. She would get so excited and yell egg, egg when she saw one. The eggs were filled with either, dimes, quarter or candy. Sierra ended up with mostly money amounting to $2.15.

While in town we went to visit our good friends Todd and Jess Sebade. Sierra loved it there also because they had 2 cats. I don't think the cats were as excited to see Sierra. Sierra kept running into the bedroom to check on the cat and try to get him to play with the golf ball.

Trip is booked!!

Brock and I are going to Mexico this summer for our 4 year anniverary. After meeting with a travel agent and changing the location of our trip we decieded on the maya riviera, mexico. We are staying at a great resort, Secrets Silversands resort(http://www.secretsresorts.com/silversands/). We are leaving on June 12th for 5 nights. I am looking foward to just lying on the beach or by the pool relaxing.
This will be the longest I have ever been away from Sierra, I think that part will hit me more when it gets closer to June. We hope to use Skype to talk to Sierra.

Hurry, hurry

The other night Sierra was watching the movie UP with Daddy. At one part of the movie there was some dogs that were chasing the people, Sierra's eyes got big and started to yell "hurry, hurry...". Everyday she surprises me with what she knows.

Had to go to the Dr. again

Sierra had a rough weekend with getting up way to early for mom and dad. She was acting the same way as she was a couple of weeks ago when she had an ear infection. When I asked Sierra is something hurt she would point to her right ear and say "hurt". Brock took her to the Dr. this morning and her right ear still has the infection, so they bumped her up to a different medication that is stronger. The side effects are upset stomach and diarrhea.

photos

I am behind on adding photos to this site. If you look to the right side I have put a link to my shutterfly website. I am working on getting updated photos on that site to share with everyone. I have added to the shutterfly website a copy of the book that I made of Sierra's first year. I have it basically finished just a few touch up things. It is 90 pages long so it takes a while to look through but worth it. I have also added a link to my mom's shutterfly website to see her photos, it might be protected by a password but request to be a member and she will okay it.

potty chair

I bought a potty chair for Sierra months ago and have had it in our guest bathroom. The chair looks like a small toliet, it sing when you go the bathroom in it. Sierra has only pee in it one time, which I don't think she did on purpose. She has started to tell me that she is poopy, about 75% of the time it is true, the other 25% of the time she just wants to go sat on the potty. Sierra used to just on the potty for good amount of time and do nothing. Well the other day I bought her a potty seat that goes on the big toliet. She loves to get up on that with her step stool and sit. While I am waiting in the bathroom for her, she wants me to sit on her potty chair. She points to the chair and says "you sit there". We have not gotten her to pee in the big potty, I am not pushing her but I will asked here and there if she wants to sit on the potty. She sometimes says yes just to get us to take her to the bathroom so she can get into all the drawers and play with the toliet paper. She also likes to take her pants off and try to get her diaper off, this is her new way to tell us that she is wet and wants a new diaper.

Sierra had to go to the Dr.

Starting on Thurs night Sierra seam not to be feeling very well and had a fever. She did not sleep very well Thurs night coughing and crying about every 2-3 hrs. I ended up keeping her home from daycare on Friday. She seam to start feeling better on Sat. Sierra stayed the night at my parents house on Sat and had a great time but did not eat good dinner. My mom even made pasta for her and she did not eat much. I know when she refuses pasta she must not be feeling well. Sunday she seam better and played great with the neighbor boys during the super bowl. Now Sunday night was a different story.. she woke up at 1:50am and took me 25mins to get her back to sleep and then woke up at 4:50 and did not want to go back to bed. The only way I could get her to stop crying was to hold her while standing up. I try to sit down but she did not like that. I try everything to get her to sleep, she finally slept in my bed for about 15 min but bythis time it was 6am, time for me to start getting ready for work. I took her to day care but she was not feeling good so took her to the dr, she ended up having an ear infection in her right ear. The dr said that it was really red and looked like it could burst. That explains everything. I just got done putting sierra to bed I just hope she will sleep through the whole night.

New bed time routine

Sierra loves to read her books. Now every night she has us read her a few book before we put her in her crib. Then Sierra stays up for 15-30 mins just reading to herself in crib. When I go to bed I go back in and take out the books that I can usually leaving at least 1-2 because she is sleeping on them. It is so cute to hear her in there reading to herself. I could see her when she is older hiding the flashlight under her pillow to continue reading after lights out. Sierra must get her love of reading from her aunt Jennifer or Jenna because I know it not from me.

First Post

I finally decided to start a blog. I thought this would be a great way to keep everyone up to date on new things with the family and Sierra. I am not the best at keeping things update but I will make a effort to post often.

Sierra is now 21 months old. Everyday she says something new, I am so surprised on how many words she knows. She is pretty good at repeating words. She is also staring to put 2-3 words together, her new phase is "what's this?" or "Where you go?" she is also staring to sing more, I think she is trying to sing her ABC's but she jumps around on the letters.

This last weekend we went to "lost in Fun" which is a indoor play area. Sierra had a blast, I will post photos later. They had 3 swing sets where she loved to go down the slides, 3 large bounce houses, she was doing a great job jumping up and down, and then her favorite place was in the large space room where they had a foam pit. The foam pit was hard for mom and dad to get out of. Aunt Jennifer met us there and took some great photos.
